Dish Bankruptcy - Business as Usual

Here is the important part.

That's what I said about all this money coming in why would DISH need to file bankruptcy? But Echostar is the parent company and DISH is just a sub company under them. So dump the debt and it will make it a better chance for TTP buying up DISH and SLING TV now with no debt or reduced manageable debt load. Remember that was the hold up before when the debt levels were attached and the stock holders didn't want to take a hair cut on their stock values if they changed to TPP.

I asked the Google A.I. the other day whether DISH would end up with DIRECTV and it said that most likely TPP who owns DIRECTV, will end up buying the two video portions of DISH/Sling TV and then they will also buy the two Satellites they just added for 110/119 that will last them till 2040.

They would end up using the Hopper receivers and do away with any legacy receivers DISH has. Combine the A.I. search feature from the Genie with the hopper. Repoint all the Directv customers to these two satellites because their existing satellites are near the end of their useful life. Then they will eventually put the Directv name on all the receivers in the future, retiring the DISH name.

Charlie Ergen is no longer in the Video business. They predicted this deal would happen in 2027 by years end. TPP has to finish up their deal with ATT to buy up all of DIRECTV this year.
Oh, no! My 722!

Us long time dish subscribers watched it grow from thousands to millions and now back again I never thought they would go bankrupt. If Elon does want them he probably has a plan to get them before they exit bankruptcy or shortly after. This is going to hurt the company even further. Most people will hear bankruptcy and drop the service or not even sign up. It's been a fun ride.

Again, why would he want Dish TV, maybe Echostar, he has purchased the spectrum that he coveted, once the government clears the purchase, he will move on.

Yep, more will leave because of that, what new subscriber would become a customer with a company that has the bankruptcy tag hooked to it….not many.

Everyone should remember the Bally/FanDuel RSNs, thought they were set after they left Chapter 11, made it a year after, now about to totally shut down.

there was a hopper 4 with more memory and a bigger m.2 drive instead of the HDD it has now. they never did mention how many tuners it would have. but that will never happen!
Why do you need more memory for? And what difference would a SSD make as you wouldn't notice any difference in speed.

If we saw a Hopper 4 it would be an entirely Android based system so basically a Hopper plus with the tuners built in.

I do wish the hopper could do all audio and video formats so I could play all my movies in their original format from my plex server. But that's all I can think of. The Hopper 3 is almost perfect now.

Any chance Youtube will buy dishnetwork? It will be good for streming Youtube TV and using Dish network for satellite TV. Also hotels and bars can get NFL sunday ticket via Dishnetwork. Merger with Directv is not a good choice. They are not ordering any new satellites?

Why would (who ever) buy Dish at this point ?
You tube doesn't Need Dish for anything I can think of.

Can you get NFL ST on Dish now ???
I don't know how they would allow that if the didn't want D* to have it.
I know D* didn't really want it, in the end.

There isn't a strong product or technology reason for YTTV specifically to buy DISH. The pieces with real value (hospitality contracts, possibly some carriage agreements, tax benefit of acquiring distressed assets) would make it more of a convenient-if-cheap acquisition rather than a strategic opportunity.

SpaceX doesn't want the pay TV business, so them acquiring the rest doesn't make any sense either.

You can only get NFL Redzone on Dish network. All the games(NFL Sunday ticket only on Youtube TV for residental homes. Hotels and bars still get it via Directv super expensive about $5000 or higher. For many Televisions in bars and hotels it is very hard for streaming that is what i herd.

Why would Google even want Dish?

You do know that YTTV has more than 12 Million subscribers and is now the #2 Provider, just behind Charter.

That is over 7 Million more subs than Dish, Google is doing just fine with YTTV.
It will be good for streming Youtube TV and using Dish network for satellite TV.
Less than 5 Million have Dish, that number is shrinking everyday.

Satellite TV is a dying service, broadband delivery is Live TV only hope.

YTTV does not handle NFL ST for businesses, another company does.
Merger with Directv is not a good choice. They are not ordering any new satellites?
Does not matter if they order new satellites or not, TV via Satellite will be unprofitable in about 2-3 years, due to a loss of subscribers.

DirecTV no longer has Sunday Ticket for Business, contract was up after last season.
