Dish Bankruptcy - Business as Usual

But, they are very similar.

The judge will make it a priority to save jobs and make the business successful.

If that means bondholders take a hit, that is what will happen..
THIS is whats going to happen.

If you read certain posters posts from the last year or two, its always the same doom and gloom on things. If you look closely at them some folks have vested interest elsewhere, which could be why some of them want them to fail.

I see a lot going on behind the scenes which I can't talk about until it becomes public, and from what I am seeing DISH isn't going anywhere. I put out the tea leaves out on some things without actually saying anything and some will tell me I am wrong... but I know what I am seeing and hearing.

As I said before DISH will be around a whole lot longer then DIRECTV. Charlie is no dummy and hasn't shown his hand yet. And we all know the poker pplayer he is.

Now to go sit down and watch TV on my Hopper 3... there still is no better way to watch TV anywhere. Long live Dish. :)

Most Dish subs knew this day would come and Charli would have it worked out for EchoStar/Dish/HughesNet and Boost to come out in the green again. It will be an ongoing challenge to keep it in the green going forward. Charli is a smart businessman and I would not be surprised is Charlies long term plan is to also buyout DirecTV mainly for its subs and to change out the Genies for the new Hopper4s that can be used on ether system with a firmware/software/ird card change because both Genie and Hopper use same CPUs. Then Charli can covert all the hoppers and use the DirecTV dishes with a new swim lnb that works with the Hopper system. After that all subs' dishes/lnbs are on pointed to the 101* spot Charli would move its newer sats from the 110* and 119* spots to the 101* (99*-101*) spot as the old DirecTV sats are retired or used as backups. The 119* and 110* sat locations could be feed up for other uses or sat operators.

The new EchoStar 25 sat has a few local bad spot beams.(sb) Sb 25 for my area had a good signal of 70 but the signal quality was poor causing a lot of data errors. That means I had video freezing, snow and checker boarding and bad snap crackle pop audio. Dish first moved my locals to sb 31 and now it's on sb 27 with a signal of 61. The foot print of the new sb was twice as wide as the old sat sb 31 on Echo 11.

I have a newer version of the Hopper3 now. My last hopper3 (built to last. It was 9 years old) lost its power to the lnbs one day and they sent me a newer version of Hopper3. It's basically the same with a few changes. Has a faster gui, change to the system info, 2 cat 6 ports and it now has a 2 tb drive that doubles the number of recordings I can store.

According to Google A.I.:

Why the bankruptcy Increases the chance for a new deal with TPG and DISH merging.

Clearing the Debt Roadblock: DISH entered court with a Restructuring Support Agreement (RSA) already backed by 88%of it's noteholders. This "prepackaged" status allows the company to use bankruptcy court to legally bind dissenting creditors and forcibly restructure approximately $10 billion in debt.

Creating a Clean Target: Dish plans to exit bankruptcy rapidly, targeting emergence by the end of Quarter 3 of 2026. A streamlined debt-reduced DISH pay-TV business makes for an incredibly attractive merger target for TPG and DIRECTV.

TPG's Solo positioning : TPG Capital is already moving forward with a separate deal to acquire ATT's remaining 70% stake in DIRECTV to assume 100% ownership. Once TPG fully controls DIRECTV, they will have total flexibility to make a clean, post-bankruptcy bid for DISH remaining 4.8 million satellite subscribers.

I read that nothing is to change for Dish subscribers, but to make sure, we won't have to get DirectTV equipment will we? It sucks compared to the Hopper 3. Hopper 3 beats youtubetv interface big time also.

Easy enough to predict survival once they were allowed to sell off spectrum instead of losing it like was supposed to happen. Corporate entity separations notwithstanding

I would guess Direct Tv will take over Dish for a bargain price. Charlie is probably done with Dish and is ready for a new chapter for Echo Star . He is not a dumb person and knows that times are changing satellite tv is a thing of the past. The hopper 3 is awesome. If they can make a streaming box that is similar to the hopper it would be a big seller for the older generation the younger generation is doing fine with the streaming box's available now.

I am 59, so would assume, part of that older generation, the streaming boxes are just great for myself and my fiancée ( who was a cord cutter before I met her).

Her parents are in their late 70s, only use a Roku, my step father is 80…same.

The original deal that failed would of merged the two companies with TPG and Directv. In that deal they wanted to use DISH Hoppers and Joeys since they have old receivers and haven't updated them in years. The two satellites that DISH just launched would be used for the combined company and at first everyone would keep the same receivers at first till they decided to make a change and everyone would eventually get a hopper but with DIRECTV name on it.

I don't know if that will happen now. From what I asked yesterday about TPG plans of the Google A.I. for the future they said DIRECTV plans on transitioning all their satellite customers to streaming versions and squeeze out what they can of their existing old satellites and use them for rural customers who can't get broadband. But who knows what they will do if they do indeed sell off DISH and Sling TV to TPG? Either way reorganizing the debt will make DISH /SLING TV more attractive for a sale or merger. I think Charlie wants to be through with satellite TV and move on into other things now with EchoStar.

you think. i think dish will take directv over. dish is in a better spot to take directv over vs the other way around.. charlies is loaded or will be loaded after the sale of spectrum!!! dsh just launched a new sat not to long ago!! just saying.. or maybe there playing the waiting game and see who is going to go broke first and the other will buy the other one for pennies on the dollar. now the one problem will be is to keep it in the green after the merger if and or when they merge!!! they could cut the teat off of the hopper and make it a streaming only box charlie would need more contracts to do it though but it could be done... i am also sure that charlies waiting for a bargain basement price for directv!! and directv haven't came out with a new genie in years and they won't because they know it's the end. ever use a genie there slower than sh*t and with the restrictions of the genie 2 as it's a client only system no thank you people might want a standard HD box for travel camping tailgating!!! directv has priced themselves right out of everyone's budget. there is no way in hell i will pay $ 10.00 for each room..
