Dish Bankruptcy - Business as Usual

Advertisements
Why do so many bring this up, yet ignore the fact, that Paid Live TV is doing the same?

Who cares, when the majority of content on that all in one service is reruns, which are available for free on the Pluto TV type services.

I am glad to switch from app to app for new programming, along with the better video/sound quality.

For example, can you receive CBS shows in 4K on Dish ( or other services)….nope, but you can on Paramount+.

Not many care about the Hopper, if they did, Dish would not be under 5 million subscribers and still losing subs, as reported every quarter.

YTTV has over 12 Million subscribers and still growing, no hopper there.
You're right Bruce. You're the smartest person here. You may be a genius. You made the wise choice. No question about it.

That all said, I sure like my DISH Hopper 3 service.

I had a dish player ,522,622,722,922 hopper , hopper3 . I don't understand why we place the Hopper 3 as the best of the best and basically thinking it's the most advanced receiver that was and will ever be made. All the boxes listed above pretty much did the same thing for me . Recorded a program. Yes the interface has changed and more tuners to record more on a larger hard drive that most likely you will never watch. With streaming services everything is at your fingertips whenever you want. I enjoyed the technology of satellite with new receivers and switches and dishes unfortunately that's done. I do miss those days. Still have my dish 500 installation box with my plastic compass. I became so obsessed moving my dish around no one ever told me about trees when I bought the system. I can walk around my yard now and point 110,119 and pick up signal instantly. My first satellite I ever connected to was Bell express I was a little of on my skew :)

I see no difference from changing channels to go from NBC to ESPN. Instead of turning on my TV and Hopper, I turn on my TV and Apple TV, then go to Peacock and if I wish go to Disney+ or ESPN direct.
I push the button to turn on my TV and Firestick, and then press the voice command button and tell it what I want to watch.

And all I have to do is turn on my Hopper and immediately see if any new episodes of the shows I watch recorded instead of having to open up several apps and searching.

No one really cares about what YOU do. You, me and many on here are way more savvy to things that are out of the realm of others. We are not the majority and you don't come close to talking to as many people as I do about watching TV.

YTTV has significant price increases, no chance at lowering the bill. Resolution, mostly at 720 or compressed 1080. Some streams may be VOD versions, net studio releases. Many channels don't have 5.1 surround sound. And for many older people it's just more difficult.

You are one of the biggest doom and gloomers of dish network that's on here. And yet it's still trudging along, but I'm sure you're gonna tell me how that's not going to last much longer.

streaming services You need high speed internet costly. Thursday night football i ordered it via Amazon prime i have 80 speed internet the picture locking up it sucks. streaming is like electric car not proven. i will stay with dish network still the best out there. Even dish anywhere app on my phone it looses signal when you are watching on my phone. Not as reliable as satellite tv.

Increase your Internet speed ?

Back in the Day, I was setting up people for internet at a whooping 3 mg and it was good enough for Netflix ... of course, that was before 4k, probably the very beginning of HD.

Netflix would work fine.

But I do see the numbers, since 2017, when YTTV started, Dish had 11 Million, now under 5 Million, a loss of about 6 Million subscribers.

YTTV, in that same time period, gained 12-13 Million.
YTTV has significant price increases
And so does Dish.
no chance at lowering the bill.
It is only $83 a month for the full package and there is a way to lower the bill, you can sign up for their less expensive packs.
Resolution, mostly at 720 or compressed 1080.
Nope, 1080P mostly, the only stations/channels that are in 720P, are the same ones Dish has ( like FX or ABC for two examples).
Some streams may be VOD versions, net studio releases.
They have VOD, just like Dish does, trying to understand why you are bringing this up?
Many channels don't have 5.1 surround sound. And for many older people it's just more difficult.
Actually they are in DD Plus, higher resolution 5.1 audio on YTTV.
You are one of the biggest doom and gloomers of dish network that's on here. And yet it's still trudging along, but I'm sure you're gonna tell me how that's not going to last much longer.
Trying to understand why you are making this so personal, if I remember correctly, you have posted many times that you pirate content ( do not pay for it) and don't even have Dish.

streaming services You need high speed internet costly.
You also need electricity to watch TV, very costly also.
Thursday night football i ordered it via Amazon prime i have 80 speed internet the picture locking up it sucks.
I find it is a great picture, 1080P with HDR.
streaming is like electric car not proven.
ummm, I have a Tesla Y and a Ford Lightning, drive them all the time, pretty proven.
i will stay with dish network still the best out there.
Ok, that is your opinion.
Even dish anywhere app on my phone it looses signal when you are watching on my phone. Not as reliable as satellite tv.
Why would you watch TV on your phone, too darn tiny.

Get a better internet provider or better WiFi equipment. My mom streams prime, paramount plus, YTTV, YouTube and many other streaming services with no problems on 5MB internet at the nursing home she resides in. I'd hear about it if there were any problems. I was there for a couple hours watching AUSL softball with her earlier today and never a glitch.

That package at $83 there is nothing there. Dish americas 250 is almost 300 channels.
They will never lower price if you call them youtube/google like dish. Try getting this at $88 versus $127 full price americas 250 at dish.

YTTV isn't beating this. I have a Wally so no equipment fees, OTA dongle for locals that I don't watch, news pack added on for $10. Bill is $50/mo

Dish could market this in their favor. With the cost of streaming services going up and they need to switch from app to app, with the advent of android OS and the hopper equipment, dish has taken away some of that pain by centralizing everything on one device, with one remote where you can still stream watch, live TV and record whatever you want, whenever you want and view all the content from anywhere with an Internet connection
Like I have said, they're marketing convenience.

But app-based services are just not for everyone

Were paying 84.99 for the 120 taxes and fee's included and we have a hopper 3 and two joey 4's. dish gave us the hopper dvr fee and the access fee for the joeys at no charge for two years. we use the ota dongle for the locals as well.

80 mbps in this day and age :eeek... time to start shopping around.

First, I have not "posted many times" something that's not even allowed to be discussed.
By lowering the price, Dish doesn't make you move to a different, smaller package.
And again, without internet, there is no streaming, meanwhile, Dish is pulling in revenue from other sources. Is DTV? Cable?

First, I have not "posted many times" something that's not even allowed to be discussed.

How else would I know, one example-

There are many ways to stream without negotiating multiple apps on multiple devices. I have everything I need on my TV, including OTA, and I will never pay for any cable service again unless I'm forced to. It's neither a supplement in my house nor many millions of other people's houses.
Find it incredibly hypocritical you are pushing and selling a TV Service, that you will not even pay for yourself.

By lowering the price, Dish doesn't make you move to a different, smaller package.
Not everyone receives a discount and they have Flex Pack, which is designed to reduce pricing with select channels.
And again, without internet, there is no streaming,
Without power, there is no TV.

Having the internet does so much more than just watching TV.
meanwhile, Dish is pulling in revenue from other sources. Is DTV? Cable?
Umm….'duh, Cell Phones, Broadband, Security Systems,Home Phone Service.
