Has anyone seen an expected release date for this receiver. I saw Nov. 1st , but according to a Dish CSR it seems it may be longer. Also, I keep seeing their will be special promotions for DHP customers. Does anyone know any details about these promotions. I saw in other post $49.00 with this price why would anyone get the 510. I might be totaly confused, so any details about this receiver would be great.

Thank You
David Ehrenreich

With DHP you are leasing the hardware and the customer is paying $5 more for each account to do that so that may be expected for DHP customers as they usually pay $49 up front. I heard that there was going to be a delay past Nov.1st on the 322 and 522 receivers and that it will only be available for DHP customers at first before others will be allowed to activate them.

According to the sheet that was posted. We will have to pay $5.00 a month for the unit and then $5.00 for the on-demand service. Is this right?

Also, I wrote this in the orginal why would anyone do the $99.00 dhp deal for a 510. When this reciever is comming out sometime next month.

Yes this is correct, $5 additional outlet fee plus $4.95 Dish VOD fee.

The 522 is a REALLY good unit and works REALLY well, but it has one BIG problem that they need to fix before it can be released (which is why we will see the 322 before the 522)

That problem is parental control.

You record a dirty movie off of Extasy and your kids can watch this movie in their bedroom. They are working in putting in locks so certain shows and channels can be blocked from the second TV.

Once they have this done you will want a 522. Its a GREAT receiver!

If you are a responsible parent, you won't record such filth in the same home which you raise your children.

In a conversation with Dennis Frey, Regional Sales Manager, SW Region, I was told the 522 wouldn't be available until 1st quarter 2004 at the earliest. He also told me 811's were at pack out which means they should be in warehouses early next month.

Aren't you forgetting how those same children came into being. How filthy was that???

(set tone=incredulous) And this is an afterthought? Talk about designing in a vacuum, far away from the real world.

I agree 100% Cyclone.

The unsupervised viewing of adult programming by children is not a substitute for parental explanation of the 'facts of life'. Also, I somewhat doubt that porn movies suggest any kind of responsible behaviour, unless they now depict unwanted pregnancies, dealing with STDs, etc.

So, what you are saying is that according to E* it is ok for kids of DHP subs to have access to porn on that 2nd tv, but kids of parents who buy their 522 need to be protected from porn on their 2nd tv, this does not make since as a reason for E* to make the 522 DHP only, a delay for all subs maybe but as a restriction to DHP only makes no since at all to me. :shrug

I have yet to hear of a adult movie which conveys the procreative and unitive nature of marital relations. Especially one in the listings called "Up the Wazzu".
