Really, I thought the analysts latest estimates were 250,000 for D* and 125,000 for E*, they were pretty close about D*.

Analyst's estimates for D* were 180,000.

DirecTV profit rises 10 pct on US subscriber growth: Financial News - Yahoo! Finance

This increase over estimate is why 1 analyst is making this loss prediction.

The 250,000/125,000 was estimated by some analysts, if some others estimated 180,000/80,000 then I can see why they tried to explain it was not their fault when they were way off on D*, the difference must have come from E*.

DISH may very well come in with a bad number, we will find out next week.

I don't undertand the title of this thread. How would lower earnings result in lost subs? The other way around woudl make sense but I must be missing something.

I will really be surprised if there is a net sub loss but we will see.

Though anything is possible, it will have to be a major bad DISH quarter of historical proportion to make the analyst prediction so wrong. But the perception of what DISH had to go through in the past few months was as bad as I could remember.
