My biggest probably with this Hopper 3. Is that it doesn't come with ANY plans for Sat based 4k. Not even a hint. With Dish's release cycle, that means we don't get this until next year. Unless maybe Dish releases some 944 box later this year. Head on over to the DirecTV forum and read about their new bands that are available now on existing HR54 boxes..

The Hopper 3 can do live 4K, the only reason they didn't talk about it is because people would expect live 4K when they got their Hopper 3,

I don't believe DIRECTV has actually ever announced in its marketing that the the HR54 would pick up live 4K. Most of that information came from here or from executives talking at investor conferences. Not through the official press or media releases.

And the H3 will have multiple 4K VOD movies that are downloaded to the hard drive overnight, just like they do 1080p movies now. I think someone posted a 7.99 price for them.

If Dish would actually offer 1080 which was less compressed fewer people would see the need for 4K.
