I talked to the Dish Boost installer today while we waited on hold for the Boost VIP support. He has been doing Satellite Dishes for over 30 years. He started off with the large C band Satellite dishes. He then worked for US direct broadcast installing Prime Star. He has worked for Dish since then. He is out of the Blacklick Ohio office. He said they are very busy with over 2.5 weeks of work orders. Many of the work orders involve changing Eastern Arc to Western Arc when possible. Although he is fully capable of doing both Dish Satellite installations and Boost activations they don't share work orders. So today I had 2 Dish technicians at my home since I added a Joey 3 client in my bedroom. It was a very simple install since I had previously had a Joey 3 in my bedroom that I moved to the basement. So installation involved adding a splitter on the client line and activating the new Joey 3.
Dish could have saved money if they shared work orders. My Boost Dish technician gets paid from when he left the office at 7 AM till he clocks out. He spent 2.5 hours at my house and then left at 3 PM for a Boost activation in Circleville. So he will probably have a 12 hour day. Of course the other Dish technician installing the Joey 3 was only here for 30 minutes. Most of that time was the Joey 3 doing a software update. He had never seen an installation with 2 Hopper 3 receivers and 2 Joey 3 Clients so I showed him my installation.

Sounds like a really well run organization. Two techs to your house in the same day with one spending 2.5 hours there to activate a cell phone. If I owned dish stock I'd be offloading it right now.
Right, because there's never been a glitch in any technology before, especially cell phones.

And you are working on Boost, right?

Yes my IPhone is now working on the Boost network. I am very pleased with the Boost coverage so far. I had 4 to 5 bars of 5G signal all the way from Marysville to my house and I have 2 bars signal in my house. With T-Mobile I would lose service during the drive from Marysville. The next step is to test the signal strength when driving to Plain City. With T-Mobile I would lose signal on Middleburg Plain City road.
I did a Speedtest and had 117 Mbps download and .58 Mbps upload at my house.

Various posts indicate these labor intensive ($$$) work orders have been issuing for quite some time.

The question is "Why?".

I hope Dish satellite and cable make a comeback. App prices are getting out of hand and will get worse. We need a blend of all the services to keep prices down.

What does a "Dish Boost Installer" do, and what does a "Boost Dish technician" do...?

They both are Dish trained technicians so they are capable of doing both Dish installs and Boost activations. Unfortunately they don't share work orders. That is how I ended up with two Dish technicians at my house. One doing my Boost phone and one installing my Joey3. Hopefully someone at Dish sees this and can remedy the current issue.

Like with Hughesnet, which also relies on two different techs for the same property, Dish is working to create work orders to do both by the same tech, they just haven't gotten it done yet

Why is someone at your home for mobile service?

Dish techs deliver Boost phones and Sim Cards to customers now and get their devices activated, numbers ported, etc. That's what much of this thread is about
So they do this as a go-to-home service? Isn't all of that usually done at a retail location? Are they thinking such service will be a marketing advantage over the big fellas? If there's need for tech help once on the service, will there be in-home service calls for that? Will people expect or even want to receive mobile device services in the home rather than at a store? Or is this really all about DiSH simply not having stores for customers to go to?

I first went to the local Boost store in Marysville Ohio to see if there was good coverage. I was pleased to see 4 bars of 5G. The Boost store said the cost would be $25 per month if they did the activation. To get the $10 reduction to $15 per month I needed to go through Dish and have the technician come to my home. The activation would have been quick except that they could not get the line ported over. The ne t day the boost store employee told me that they were having the same problems.

Can someone help me with activating?
