Quick question,

I'm setting up a dish for my camper this summer and was thinking about putting it on a tripod. The cheapest tripod I could find was at Menard's and is meant for mounting uhf/vhf antennas. The pole that goes into the tripod is not very large but I was wondering if it would be large enough to mount the dish to. Perhaps someone who is familiar with this type of pole and also dish satellite installs will be able to help.

Thanks very much for the help,

1 1/4" galvanized pipe works perfectly. That gives you an OD of 1 5/8". Any pipe larger than 1 1/4" would have an OD to great to slide the mounting assembly over. Even PVC pipe is good if you aren't planning to raise the mast too far above the tripod. Much cheaper and easier to work with. Also Rat Shack has 3' tripods at a reasonable price.
