Dish Network 118 South Asian and HD

I need some info is someone can help....I have a friend who wants the mega pack south asian channels and HD can this be done with one dish or do I have to have two. Maybe a 1000 and 500 or 2 500s? Any info would be greatlly appreciated...

unless you're in the NE or Florida you would get a D1000+ that sees
110/119 main Dish sats
118.7 for Int'l channels
129 for HD

No I am in Oklahoma...does the dish 1000 pick up all 4 or just 110,119,129 and use 500 or 300 for 118?

the DIsh1000+ (the + is the key here) gets all 4 satellites. It gets 110. 118.7, 119, 129

118.7 is an oddball bugger. Its linear so you need a larger dish but its circular polarity like the higher powered satellites.

a D500 or 300 wont work for 118 because its the LNB that's different

Ahhh I see...so what about a Directv international dish will it pick it up?

nope...again that LNB for 118.7 is an oddball and Dish has the only legit model of it

Well darn it...uhhh....soooo 1000+ huh...now I have a 500 LNB someone gave me and said it was for a 500+ for the 118? but I still have to have a big dish right?

500+ lnb is the same one on the 1000+. The 1000+ has an additional lnb for 129 added on the bracket.

if you really do have an lnb laying around from a 500+ dish, you could find a 121 superdish somewhere (not to difficult), and cut the arm back 2" (if youre a handy person), and fit that lnb to the super dish. you would still need the 2 brackets that attached the DP duals to that LNB for 110, and 129 sats.

simpler just to subsribe to the asian pack and let dish bring out the appropriate hardward and put it in.
