Dish Network 4900 memory upgrade

Has anyone attempted to upgrade the memory in a 4900 in order to allow the guide to hold more information and elminate the "wait" time?

Not possible :no Even if you could stuff more ram in it, the software wouldn't recognize it.

Also...You might want to consider selling it and getting something newer. I sold my old 4700 for $60 a few months back :)

Thanks, this receiver is in a spare room so, I may just live with it. I recently upgraded to the 721 and didn't realize just how slow the 4900 was until I experienced the 721's speed, great unit....
 
One would have to put something in the receiver so that it would be recognized as a different receiver that downloads the extended EPG data.
