Dish Network again weighs DirecTV deal

e* needs to focus on the future as a stand-alone company. They have spent wasteful time trying to find a new partner. E* should have never tried to merge with At&T given the history of the company. Charlie would want some control in the new company. If Charlie wanted out, he would put a "for sale sign" on the door(s). E* is great company, but it is no longer a leading market player. E* strength came from innovative products, price programs, and dealer incentives. People want more bang for their buck. Are subs going to pay $7 more to get a exclusive HD channel like WFN-HD in the premium HD package?

This is a waste of time, money, and effort. There is no way the FCC will let them merge. Both are still making a boatload of money, which is way different than XM/Sirius. Plus the rural factor that both of them are the only options will kill any merger. That was the big deal breaker before they tried to merge. The only way they could ever merge would be if one were on life support by losing money & subscribers or someone were to loose several satellites within a few months.
