I didn't think the Dish 1000 was Dish's first receiver. I thought it came out later with less features. Wasn't the 2000 or 3000 the first?

I got Dish in Feb 97 with the 3000 receiver. I have no idea how old or new it was at the time.

I believe I got Dish in the Fall of '97. 2 4000 receivers. Had to have UHF remote.

August 1996, just in time for Hurricane Fran to knock down the tree the 300
was mounted on . Still have the deluxe model 2000 with uhf remote. Any takers?

I got DISH in July 1996 with a UHF remote and a model 2700, I believe (maybe it was a 2000). I paid about $800 for it and a self install kit. My how times have changed.

Maybe everyone should post on this thread when their anniversary with Dish is.

Mine Is January 18,1997.

Wow, six years for me this May...... I started with a 4900 and a 2700. Added a Dishplayer 6 months later and a second Dishplayer about 6 months after THAT.

I'm up to a 622, 2 508s, a 510, and a 921 doorstep that doesn't want to boot up since I moved it to the basement. Oh well, I'll try again to clear the problem this weekend before I try and invoke my extended warranty again.

Eight years for me. Started with a 4000 and 1000. Graduated to a 7100, 501, 508, 510, 721, 6000 then 942. At one point I had 6 receivers active but I've since simplified to 3 (942, 721 and 510) with TV2 from the 942 supplying a signal to the ancillary TV's in the house.

wow bunch of old dish farts.

February 7, 2004 for me...

August 1996 is when I joined with a mail order receiver and dish from a dealer in GA. Intalled it myself. Then upgraded to Dish 500 and a HTS ISD3350 Receiver(remember these?) and a HM-DSR1000U D-VHS Receiver.
I now have a 622 in the box waiting for an install this weekend.

I remember getting a 3000 in late 1996/early 1997. I remember the joy of tuning in the satellite myself finally and receiving service. It was GREAT!

Your so right, it was a great experience. My wife thought I was a genius. Unfortunately she has learned different since (at least in her opinion).

There is nothing like getting something like that for the first time. Most if not all of us have a different view on satellite technology then than we do now. Even four or five years ago we thought of things differently than we do now.
