I wonder if 31,000 subscribers lost this period compared to 151,000 lost last year means the market is starting to stabilize...

Dish did not lose 31,000 sat customers, they lost 79,000, it was offset by gains to sling.

Dish reported losing around 79,000 Dish TV subscribers during the latest quarter, while adding around 48,000 Sling TV subscribers.

Net loss is way lower. So things may be bottoming out.

Driving around my local area there are now many more Dish antennas than DirecTV. Of course this is a microscopic sampling of the country at large. AT&T forcing upgrades as of this year and taking the opportunity to up the fees at the same time probably caused a number of the locals to switch like we did. At least we have a stable price for two years to see how things will look then.

A lot of DirecTV dishes went up after AT&T stopped selling Uverse for a while around here, now I see a lot of those being replaced by Dish dishes.

Sling TV seems to be doing OK. How many streaming subscribers does Direct have? I am happy with Dish, but if I changed, Sling would probably be my choice.

With a profit margin much less than satellite I am sure but their expense is much less too and with some price increases it will start to catch up. I knew years ago that internet streaming would take over as the primary source eventually.
