After reading all that everyone has to say about Hopper/Joey and its related fees, I'll add this to the mix:
Umm, no thanks, Dish ... I'll stick with what I've got.
Umm, no thanks, Dish ... I'll stick with what I've got.
So when can we start ordering???
I too would like to know this. 5 people have already asked this question but no one seems to know.
Thats the great thing about all of this... you can do that! After reading all that everyone has to say about Hopper/Joey and its related fees, I'll add this to the mix:
Umm, no thanks, Dish ... I'll stick with what I've got.
I only have one TV... so can I only have the Hopper?
Will their system default to a ViP612 (1-TV, HD, DVR) or does the customer have to ask for a Hopper ?Yes.![]()
If you like what you have now then keep it, you can always upgrade at a later time.![]()

You have to ask for a Hopper. Will their system default to a ViP612 (1-TV, HD, DVR) or does the customer have to ask for a Hopper ?
I guess I'll be stuck upgrading no matter what though. Our 722k has an ongoing odd problem where I get a "Partial Signal Loss" and the only fix is to reset the receiver. It happens multiple times a week and DISH doesn't have a clue why.
I'm getting the same message more and more frequently with my nearly five year-old 622. Fortunately for me, I'm running a second (soon to be HD replaced SD) tv with a 510 that costs me $10 a month. Whole home dvr and a Joey will be $11, so it isn't a big deal. The one question I have to answer is will it be worth another $100 at installation to do two hoppers instead.
I only have one TV... so can I only have the Hopper?
I have Latino 2, so it say it will be free and 6 for the DVR, and thats it?
Cause I think I won't need the $4 extra fee for the whole home.
Good way for Dish to get rid of the ViP receivers then! You have to ask for a Hopper.
Agreed, they aren't. But customers with just one dual-tuner receiver feeding 2 TVs (a high percentage of their base), they are in effect forcing them NOT to upgrade, unless they want to almost triple their fees for 2 TVs. 3 TVs, quadruple. Some people are acting like DISH is forcing them to upgrade... and they are not.
That only applies to NEW customers. They address what existing customers have to pay.So I may need to bump up my packaging temporarily for a bit ...
Is that any different than what users can do today with any of Dish's DVRs ?Question is... what if a customer has a Hopper and it dies, is there a way to copy all the programming off... the answer is as of now NO unfortunately they will lose the content that is recorded.
Yes you can the only EHD you can't hook up is one from a 211 which uses a different format. Can you hook your EHD up to either the hopper or a Joey? I would hate to lose the ability to watch shows I have already stored on my EHD.
