Dish Network’s Charlie Ergen: HBO Blackout Will Prompt ‘Game Of Thrones’ Piracy

I have my account credits standing by and ready to fire up HBO Now in another 5-8 weeks or so if AT&T and Dish can't come to an agreement.

Not a fan of G_O_T.

I'm hooked on Barry, Hard Knocks, Real Sports and West World.

Wife likes VEEP.

Dish TV best get it together before my 2-yr prison term is up!!!

Just read a couple of articles on the Dish HBO standoff and the conclusion is that they haven't been talking to each other for months. All they're doing is issuing statements blaming each other. I don't see HBO ever returning to Dish.
No inside knowledge here, but wouldn't surprise me to see DISH doing this to help the DOJ get the merger of AT&T and Time Warner reversed.

Personally I think it should be.

If True--> I don't see LQQK ever returning to Dish.

I'm not even sure what channel getting dropped would make me change these days, with so much being available via streaming. It would be different if I didn't have good broadband for sure, so I understand people without broadband access switching because of it.

I'd say it is a better than 50% chance HBO comes back when the DOJ suit against AT&T is over, one way or another.

I got Dish for an all in one (Convenient) source of TV entertainment.

About the only thing I watch while it's being broadcast is Live Sports, News & Specials that I don't want someone spoiling for me or being reported in the News the following day.

So, for me being able to set the DVR to record my favorite shows and watch them on my terms is Huge. When I switched to Dish I had a checklist of absolutes (Multi-ESPN's, HBO, Locals, Etc) DVR with high Storage, HD/4K (I know, Dish is lame on 4K) + other things...The Loss of HBO is a deal killer for me. We have Broadband (Only 300GB up & Down) I H8 having to have Dish and having to bounce out to go look for a single Station (HBO).

HBO is $15 mo on Amazon, start and stop anytime. I bought a month to rewatch GOT.

There is no cord cutting option that offers the features of DISH for less money, it doesn't exist. You can pay less money sure, but you get less. I searched and searched and found nothing that gives me the same channels + commercial skipping + DVR, for less money. I'm happy to be proven wrong.

It may be a very long time before this Suit is resolved.

Charlie is quite devilish, isn't he? Promoting the idea that people should start thieving HBO content. All very innocent, of course. Glad that I am no longer paying him a nickel of my hard-earned money!

Last year's year end 10K is a work of art. Well worth reading the narrative. They really puffed it up compared to previous reports. After I read their novel, I felt like content delivery is the last business I'd want to be in.
Dish goes after At&T every which way, saying they are hoarding spectrum, selling content to themselves for less, and many many other nefarious tricks. I'm guessing they are trying to influence the Justice Dept and some other departments as well.

Game of Thrones Piracy, nothing new there.
I had read several years ago that Game of Thrones episodes were the most illegally downloaded shows in history.
Funny with all that illegal downloading I never read about one person being caught/charged for it.
