Dish Puerto Rico programming

Any news on Puerto Rico HD?, here we do not have almost 35-40 HD channels although we pay the same package prices as everyone else and that is not fair. I have AT250 with the Blockbuster package and have only 65 HD channels. In fact, there are 7 channels on the Blockbuster package that are not available in Puerto Rico and again, we pay the full price.

The irony is that on all the local Dish Puerto Rico offers, they state that Dish offers 100 HD channels.

Will appreciate some scoop on this matter.

Hi. I recently finished making a new table of Dish offering for PR, which I do from time to time (yes, I am a little masochist like that...). This exercise is mostly to see the state of the differences between the US HD vs PR HD.
Dish do offer more than 110 channels, counting locals and all (and not counting the Pay-per views and sports alt channels, which will give us more to count). I can give you exact details later, if you want (right now I am in a hurry). And a list of what is not offered. Let me know. Got to go.

Hi Donato, will appreciate if you can supply the list. I have spoken to Dish with various CSR and even and the answer has been "at this moment, we do not have the satellite capacity to offer Puerto Rico the full programming". They gave me a $10 monthly discount for one year.

alaska & hawaii are suffering almost the same problem and they're states, the problem here is that dish will have to adjust their prices for USVI, PR, Alaska & Hawaii to compensate for the lack of those channels

Or DISH can maintain their prices and let you decide if you want to pay the price for service, nobody is twisting your arm to be a subscriber. If you think a local provider is a better deal you are free to choose.

What Dish can easily do is free up a spot for PR on 110. Dish filled that spot with SD channels from Latino package which are already on 119/110 Conus beam. Dish did this back a few years to sell single dish 110 setup in PR for subs who want only Latino package. Now Dish are anyway installing the new Dish which gets 119/110 even if its Dish Latino package only.

Dish did that setup only for a year or so (a PR dealer can give more detail). Dish can easily put those subs on 119/110...which will free up that spot for PR & allow dish to add 8/9 more HD channels in PR.

But my guess is Dish will not to that. Both Dish & Liberty/Choice will extent their current setup for atleast couple of more years...when suddenly they will a bunch will be added by all (competition).

Sorry for your handicap but DISH has millions of non Puerto Rican customers that could be served by that band width. You really are insignificant in the big picture, you can pay the price and accept the service offered or go elsewhere.

This has all been discussed in other threads, while it has become better than it was you still don't get what the mainland gets.
Hawaii and Alaska has a different reason for the different packages.

In the case of P.R. (Where I have had two excellent vacations I might add) I don't know if DISH is just giving you less because they can, or if it costs more to give you some of the channels, or if they are not allowed to give you some of the channels. Unless it costs more per channels, it would seem they could give you a different prices on the packages based on getting less.

I'm happy with what I have right now...except for no AMC in HD ! We only get the stupid SD version.

Seeing 119/110 is also used for conus broadcasting they could add those channels to US broadcasting on the WA.

Please disregard every channel from 5020 thru 5080, they are repeated. That leaves the count as:
Available HD channels- 81
Not available-74

and 5 that I don't know if we are able to receive them (see next post)
