I am a Beta tester for some large companies, and as Scott says, it is a very normal occurrence for Betas to be canceled. I also have tested products that were completed, and then never released to the public. You have to expect those kinds of things to happen. It is normal for Beta testing.

Heck, I headed an office and programming team in the Navy, and kept a small project for myself. I personally wrote a paper tape interface to the SNAP II computer system. The day I submitted it to testing was the day they cancelled the requirement.
