Hi, my husband and I are exploring getting a Dish Satellite for our rv in the winter for 3 months each year. We are thinking of using the prepaid green dot card. Do we need to have a Dish500 to be able to use the prepaid cards or will any Dish Satellite do. Can we purchase a used one? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Have never been on a forum before so not quite sure how to do all this. Thanks again.

Dish 500 antenna would work fine for 99% of programming. They are available used everywhere. For prepaid, I believe you have to use a receiver purchased to be used as prepaid. In other words, you can't get a used box and start using it as a prepaid.
Also, you may want to check into the prepaid system's future, I've heard there are changes ahead.

Receivers dedicated to the Dishnow! pre-paid service are no longer being sold and it's unclear if Dish is allowing new activations at this point. See Dish Network Prepaid Question.
