Right now, I can't decide what I would do. I'm leaning toward D*, but also thinking about cable. Comcast in Denver offers an HD DVR that you can lease, and some other attractive features.

You know what holds me back from cable? I like being a satelliteguy and can't bear the thought of being a cableguy. This last comment is 90% serious. Satelliteguys.us has turned into one of my hobbies.

I like satellite too. It gives you a sense of independence you dont get from cable. You can do everything yourself if your provider allows it. With cable you have cable repairmen you have to deal with etc. And cable can go out for days during a major event like a hurricane. Satellite comes back as soon as the clouds are gone.

This is the scarcy part from the new SEC filings today:

Cablevision has begun the shutdown of
the business of Rainbow DBS. No new shutdown actions
will be undertaken.

I guess you dont understand the word "if"
I guess he went to the same school where clinton didn't learn the meaning of is :)

Now on topic... I'll probbaly go back to cable becuase their HD offerings are better than D* at this point and i've had bad billing issues (double charges that took over a year to rectify, etc) with E* in the past.

I voted i can't decide but i still have my DirecTV HD Samsung receiver and my Satellite Dish. Has DirecTV given any time line as to when the 1500 HD channels will be added to their programming? I was talking to some people at work that have DirecTV and they said some new HD programming will be added in the next month or two.

I already have Dish in place. They may not have a lot of channels, but what they do have excels in PQ.
