I have a 510 and I just moved to a place where I can't use Dish Service, I only have basic Cable. Is there any way to use the DVR for recording - like a dumb VCR where if I enter start and end times manually it can record cable shows?

I'd try it, but my remote is dead and I'm deciding if I should Ebay one or not.

thanks in advance,
V

if he could get a dish up for NASA he probably wouldnt be in this situation.

gawd i hate playing captain obvious....wait, didnt i just ask if i could use my 522 as a cable tuner...doh

I would prefer talking about why ya can't put up a dish and watch Dish.
I'd find it hard to give up -my- PVR.

I've seen 5 gallon buckets of cement with a pole in them, out on the balcony.
I've seen 4x4 wooden masts on north-facing apartments, sporting dishes looking back over the apartment building.
Shooting through a big window may or may not work.

What's got ya down, Bunkie?
We've got the technology.
Let's build you a better dish. ;)

I moved into downtown. I don't have a balcony or roof access, and I sure as heck don't want a satelite dish sitting in my living room facing out the window.

Thanks for the info though.
