Just wondering if I should "move" to LA or NY in order to qualify for DN? DOes that still work?? I have a friend in LA and I'd be "moving" to his house whe he has "everything already set up" so DTV wouldn't have to install anything else for me ;)

I have considered "moving" to arkansas which would open up all the NFL games and no Black Outs to my understanding once all the dust settles with the new HD D* Tivos... I won't do anything until D* has gone through all the install crap though with the new boxes and upgrades.

Don't need to move anymore as, upon calling retention they were able to reinstate the LA HD Channels!!! :D I guess it's always a matter of calling over and over till you get someone who'll do it for you! The first retention person I called said that, once I disconnected it, I lost it!

call and tell them you have changed your service address and that you have already setup all the equipment. Make sure none of your recievers are dialing out though...

Well D* keeps two addresses on its customers. A billing address and an address where the service is. Get it?;)

Make sure you're within the spotbeam of the channels. If you're outside the beam you won't pick them up. Where are you located?

Here are some spot beam maps I have found. The problem is that I dont know if its the spotbeams for the HD Locals.

Raleigh HD locals does not include FOXHD, and from what I can tell, I am close to the spotbam for Charlotte, which DOES have FOX HD local. I need a local NC FOXbecause I wanna get Caolina Panthers games in HD. Anyway, here are the links:

and some other intersting stuff (although I dont know what 90% of it means!)

I am in Winston, GA (30 miles west of Atlanta). Zip is 30187.

I looked at the spotbeam maps....my eyes are crossed now. Not sure how to read them!

The Cincy spotbeam does not reach Georgia. So you would not get Cincy locals. However, you would get the Cincy regional sports network and would no longer be blacked out of Cincy teams' broadcasts.

Have you asked DirecTV for HD DNS? Phillipsburg may qualify. Then you would get the "big 4" on chs. 82, 84, 86, 88.

Phillipsburg is not in the spot beam for either SD or HD Kansas City locals. If you have a good HD tuner and antenna, I'd try to pick up KGIN-DT 11.1 (RF 32) from near Kearney. They are 65 miles from you (N.E.), and I can get Kansas City digital stations from about that distance here. That would at least get you the CBS games. For Fox HD, you are probably out of luck.
