I have a Dish 500 satellite with two receivers. The old Phillips is in the family room. The newer receiver (still fairly old) is a PV508 in the living room.

problem in a nutshell:

Both TV's had been driving us nuts with acquiring signal messages. My husband decided it might be that the trees had grown too much and moved the satellite to a new location and for a few days we were hopeful. But the problem continues in the living room.

Today, quite by accident, we discovered every time the girls change the channel in the family room, we lose our channel in the living room and get the acquiring signal screen. The girls are not home much and we don't know if that has been the problem all along but it happens today every time they change the channel.

Any ideas?

Call DISH and get a tech sent out . It sounds like you have a problem with your install and or switch. First add the dish home protection insurance for 5.99 a month. This will make your tech visit only 29.99 instead of 99.99 . THen once the problem is corrected you can drop the insurance and add it only when needed.

Does each receiver have its own line all the way to the dish or switch? There should not be any splitters on those lines. Do you have 2 duals and 2 SW21 switches, a Twin, or something else?
