hi there i am a newbie and had some questions
which is a good dvb-s unit to buy?

And where can i but it from in US?

Is dvb-s2 the way to go or the technology still has to come out

thanks
james

I have the twinhan and the skystar, I prefer the skystar because it has far less driver issues than the twinhan.. do a internet search for it, should be able to pick it up for under 100 bux.. S2 isn't widely used in the US, you may find a few things using it but it's not even sold in the us.. for those you can try ebay from another country and ask if they'll ship here..

is s2 used at all in NA ? Ive heard 8psk trellis is used for feeds, but I havent seen any straight dvb-s2 (regular 8psk).

I believe DirecTV is DVB-S2 on their new Ka-band satellites. On the FTA side of things I don't think there is any DVB-S2 content yet in North America.

There is not much DVB-S2 yet in North America. TNT used it last season for their NBA broadcast backhauls, both HD and SD in the same mux. I've also seen some PGA golf feeds in DVB-S2.
