DVR and Tivo Function

One quick question can I record without a Tivo subscription? I never use the Tivo features I just menu and press record. Just tring to save 5 bucks a month. I had Dish and you dident have to pay to DVR. Thanks

No, you need it to record anything.

You can pause live TV without the DVR service ... but only for like 5 minutes. Best way to get "around" the fee is to conver all receivers DVR's (then it is a mere mirroring fee) or move to TC Premire

You are aware that all new E* DVR's now require a DVR fee, PER DVR...
The 501/508/721 do not require it still.
