For the past 2 weeks Many of my automatic recordings of TV shows have not been recorded when selecting New shows only. The reason is that Dish has been sticking old dates on the latest shows. That makes the DVR think it is a repeat. I have temporarily modified the settings to record all shows but now when a show repeats later that night, like on the History channel, it records those too, a waste of hard drive space. I realize that many shows are old and repeats but I'm not talking about those. Another thing they have done, but less frequently, is slightly rename the show title so it gets missed in the DVR list to record.

Did Dish Network hire a new employee who is making all these mistakes recently?

DVR's: VIP722 and VIP722K

My understanding is that the program owners do this, in full connivance with Nielsen, to fiddle with ratings. They don’t want to count a low score against an expected big competing program.

And I suspect some are doing it to mess with DVRing, to reduce the value of doing so, in some stupid attempt at turning back the clock.

I don’t think Dish touches the guides. I think they pass them on as received.

Sent from my iPhone using SatelliteGuys App. For now.

DISH buys the Guide data from a third party. The beef would be with them.

Two of the shows I record daily that got dinged by this listing of an ancient date are shows that invite viewers to set their DVR so they don't ever miss the show. Seems strange that a guide service would monkey with the date and title to harm the shows that pay the bills, their customers. It not only harms the shows, but also harms the carriers. Example is that I just posted a complaint and if the response here is correct, Dish gets blamed for something they did not do.

I had forgotten that the guide data is done by a service. Still, if the practice continues, I will not bother to contact the guide service. They would just ignore me. I will complain to the show producers and to Dish Network.

Today, it was made public that Google caught a search engine engineer tampering with the search algorithms for political influence. Google fired him and named him on National TV. So, it would not surprise me that a single employee is sabotaging the guide data for political or personal purposes.

Sabotaging the guide data for political or personal purposes? Now that's funny. :p
