I used to have a Dish 500 system with 322 receivers, and the SD quality was fairly good on 110/119. I now have a 722 and 222, with the HD package at 61.5/72/77, and the SD channel quality seems to be less than what I previously had. Is this just my imagination, or is there really a difference?

Well, technically on Western Arc the SD is higher resolution (544x480) vs Eastern Arc (480x480.) I personally think SD looks a tad better on WA myself, mainly in fast-moving scenes. In still scenes though, EA might look a little better.

Long story short, not really much of a difference.

As for HD, technically EA has more transponders with 9 and even 10 channels on them, so technically WA is less compressed, however again, there is hardly any difference between the two (I have both arcs.)
