The long awaited Echostar 12 61.5 Spotbeam maps are now available.

Thanks again for nelson61 for the data files so I could create these thumbnail maps.

You might find errors with these maps, but these maps are based off of the data we have from the Rainbow1 which is now Echostar 12 was built. Dish seems to have adjusted some things on this bird. Added tilt to the bird or adjusted power to resize the beams? I'm not really sure.

Click the Spotbeam links for the maps on the channle table.

Well they did something, that's for sure. Not only does it show me in the Scranton spotbeam, which as I've mentioned before I'm not, it shows me outside the Washington/Philadelphia spotbeam, yet I have a strong signal. For that matter, it shows Philadelphia outside the Philadelphia spotbeam!

Your report backs up my thoughts about this satellite 100%. I believe they rotated the bird to the east a bit causing the beams to move northeast of their projections.

One of the reasons I like to use numbers instead of names. I think I may be able to "move" the aim point and generate new digital maps but would need to have enough data to locate the new conus beam center.

I believe we have quite a bit of 61.5 folks here at Satelliteguys.us who could give us their readings, dish size, and zip code to do something like this. Anyone care to help out?

Mine too. I get the same signal will the Philly HD local ,as I do with the Scranton locals . And I'm in Northeast PA. According to the spotbeam map, Philly Spotbeam doesn't even make it to my area. But thats not true. I get 50% signal.

I live at 18445 Newfoundland PA.
I have a Dish 500 aimed at the 61.5 Single LNB
TP 11 Which is Philly Spotbeam Ranges from 48-52 on my signal meter on my 622,722.
TP 7 Which is Scranton Wilkes Barre Ranges from 53-56 on my 622 and 722

Nevermind... I think I'm good. I was actually looking at Transponder 3; should have been looking at Transponder 1 instead... get a steady signal strength of 60 on it. I didn't know that the Point Dish screen alternates between "Spotbeam" and "Transponder". And double-checking The List helps, too. :)

According to this, Buffalo is on spotbeam 4, but the image has Buffalo way off the map.

I can vouch for 60+ signal strength in Buffalo for the HD locals, although I can't confirm right now that it is indeed spotbeam 4.

I mashed the FCC filing for Spotbeam E16 and E17 together and overlaid them with the Number 17 spotbeam cities from "The List"

Looks like two beams from the filing cover one beam in"The List" and the coverage area appears to correlate quite well to the filing.

The search for knowledge continues!

I'm in the Detroit DMA. The HD locals should be on 61.5 transponder 3. The signal strength is 0%. Are the Detroit HD locals been broadcast on 61.5. I get them on 118.7, so it is not a real problem for me.

Except that at times my ViP722 as well as my previous ViP622s say the HDs are on 61.5 even though there is no signal.

thanks,
Jim

This is getting interesting. It appears that rotating the beams about 200 miles North by Northeast will bring both the spot 16 and 17 footprints into agreement with "The List" in the Texas Oklahoma area.

Buffalo in spotbeam 4?

Buffalo, NY is on spotbeam 4? According to the map, the spotbeam ends before you get to the PA NY border. Anyway here are my readings on the transponders:

My zip is 14527 and I have a VIP722K. According to the box, transponders 1, 5, 7,11,13 and 15 are spotbeams. On a side note, it does not seem that Rochester, NY is going to get HD LIL any time soon, so based on my readings, where can I "move" to? I would got to Syracuse, but channel 5 (CBS) is not on yet, and in Buffalo channel 7 (ABC) is not on. Any other ideas? Thanks.
