As always this information is subject to change as delays can happen. The spotbeam links will bring you to the beam maps.

On 6/10, TP 14 and TP 21 will change from 5/6 FEC to 7/8, the rest of them on 6/17 will change to 7/8 FEC. I suspect the few I have heard receiving a faint signal in Mexico will lose the lock on the signal with this FEC change.

Thanks for the info digiblur.

But here's something that I can't understand: If the goal is to move us to a pure arc setting, then what the heck will the NY and Hartford, CT, locals do on the 119? Our condo old MDU setup WAS 61.5/110/119, which was since moved to the EA, 61.5/72/77.

You have to remember there are a lot of older SD installs of 110/119. Those markets were spotbeamed on E7 before.

I know, but I thought the plan was to move to pure arc's, isn't it? Or is pure arc's game plan for the time being HD only?

110/119 is a pure arc solution for SD. I don't believe they are doing them from new installs though. A buddy of mine got 2 VIP receivers and 1000.2 when he was ordering SD only.

That might be the long term plan to upgrade people, but they aren't going to do it just over a new satellite being put into service. That would be a ton of people to upgrade at once.

Old SD set ups are going the same way MPEG 2 is: bye, bye.

Dish is smart. They are trying to convince everyone that they need HD. Every customer that pays $100 to dish up a new HD receiver saves Dish money for a conversion. It will be a while before MPEG-2 goes away on WA. They are going to milk it as long as they can. 8PSK will cost them a lot as it is.

Bazinga!

In commuting around here in a 60 mile radius I would say that about 1 in 10 has a two dish setup, the rest are single Dish 500's and Superdishes pointed at 110/119. Surprisingly small # of HD setups. I'm the only one in my town that I know of. (town of 600).

Sacramento HD's have major drop out problems on 110 TP 18. This is a known issue that's out of Dish's control. It'd be nice if this could get resolved somehow. And maybe adding local CW in HD would be nice. Good Day Sacramento is big here and is in HD, but not on Dish.

I have a simple question. I am in somewhere Canada and can not receive good/enough signal from echostar 7. I want to know when I can test whether I can receive good/enough signal from new echostar 14. Which TP should I scan? Thank you.

While I hesitate to answer as receiving Dish service in Canada is against the law (not that I agree with said law), here you go.

It isn't at 119 yet, and is not transmitting anyway. You will have to wait for that.

Until then, you can get an idea from this map.

Thank you for answering. My regin is between the yellow line and red line, but very close to yellow. If using 33-inch dish, can I receive good singal? Thanks

You're pretty far north. Good luck. And that law is Canadian law, not U.S. law.
