EchoStar Announces Spectrum Sale and Commercial Agreement with SpaceX

Dish needs more content.

Not sure what improvements can be made to a Hopper 4, other than imbedding the "new & improved" plus. And, of course, the most important feature!
I say aside from the built in Plus unit, it will have 16 streams for recording and 16 satellite tuners for recording and a 4 tuner ota unit for all 4 ota networks and an 8 terabyte hard drive. Then the hopper becomes the only interface you need to your TV for both satellite and internet apps. Simplifying most people's lives and the need for extra remotes and hdmi cable inputs.

If I could BUY that unit and keep using my current remotes, especially the Harmony, even without Dish service, I'd be on it. Good performance assumed.

You really got to wonder if this was part of the game plan all along to eventually sell.

Its good to see that Dish will finally be cash flow positive for a change and out of debt, but I think these 2 recent spectrum sales pretty much just ended Dish Networks plans on being the nations 4th facility based cellular service provider.

Maybe some focus can now be put towards improving Sling and Dish and can help subside some of the price increases we have been seeing on a bi-annual basis for the last few years.

So he had a great opportunity and blew it? Wasted all that bandwidth for 15 years? Put himself deep in the hole, anyone would know the price of that spectrum only went up in value. Its not like they can invent it can they? Hell they took some of the TV spectrum(UHF) because it was worth so much!

Wonder what a real company could have done all those years? Guess we will never know?
Does this make sense to anyone?

You dont think sitting on the spectrum appreciated?
Is there limited bandwidth for carriers?
Did they not take spectrum from traditional TV freq?
Think this was a genus move? or got lucky?
It appreciated, but is it "sitting on the spectrum" when the plan was to use it as part of the 5G build out?

Yes, there's limited bandwidth for everything.

No, the FCC took the spectrum from TV, not Echostar/Dish

Or just a good business move given the circumstances.

Being allowed to sell it for a profit has to be lucky. If it is legitimately being squatted on, FCC should have the mechanisms to take it back and re-auction. This is a very peculiar move. Dish/Echostar profits off US property that was licensed to them. All of this is because of outside factors that could not have been anticipated.

And another thing people are missing here is... Boost Mobile lives on. As does DISH.

Now let see Charlie buy DIRECTV for $1. :) I wouldn't bet against him.
charlie knows what he's doing 🤣.. with his sale of spectrum att t-mobile starlink won and verizion lost the only thing that verizion might get out of the spectrum sale is the crap spectrum the leftovers 🤣 🤔. if the moneys right and the offer is good tgp will sell it they were never in it for the long haul
