Until Dish Network can show it is financially beneficial to do so, there is no way that will happen.

Considering Dish has lost 8.6 Million ( had 14 M subscribers in 2015, as of the 2nd quarter 2025, 5.323 M) and continues to lose subscribers every quarter, it would be a incredibly idiotic business decision.

Everyone I talk to is amazed that I am getting voice, text, and data for $15.09 per month. The coverage is great. We went to Branson Missouri for vacation last week and I had cell service for the entire drive from Ohio to Missouri. Boost coverage appears to be better than T-Mobile which was my previous provider. Several of my friends are considering switching to Boost. Of course they would pay $25 per month since they are not dish customers. One of the benefits of being a Dish customer is saving $10 per month on my phone bill. Plus the Hopper 3 is fantastic.

What would you add to a Hopper 4?

For me I can't think of many things the Hopper 3 is missing. If I made a Hopper 4 it would be an Android Native receiver, and would support Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos and maybe add a red recording light to it.. (lol) what else is missing?

a gen 5 NVME drive . also design it so it supports the trim functions. maybe more storage???

Don't think that would be good due to the number of read writes the Hopper does all day long. And don't think the user would see any real difference in speed. I think they made the Hopper 3 too good.

I know quite a number of people who cut the cord then came back to Dish just because of the Hopper 3.

i heard of people swapping the HDD out for an SSD and it made the hopper faster!!! ill agree the wear and tear on the ssd would be murder because of all of the read and writes they would have to figure out how to fix that if they could.
the hopper is the best in class DVR box everyone else uses the YUGO'S of dvrs.
iv'e seen posts on reddit about a hopper 4 with an nvme drive weather dish will make one who knows while i doubt they will...
that's the only way i will let dish into my house is if we got a hopper 3 everything else out there is just the yugo's of dvr's

while i think there's nothing more to add to the hopper 3. there is one thing that dish could change to make things easier. having a leased box on your acct to get the new customer wheels and deals and promo's should not be a requirement. it makes no sense what so ever to have a leased box that's going to get tossed in the closet for two years . plus it complicates things LOL

Only thing to make it better would be to lower the DVR Equipment fee. That box is a beast.

No the Hopper 3 fully supports 4K. The Joey 4's also support 4K s well.
