EchoStar Announces Spectrum Sale and Commercial Agreement with SpaceX

What would you add to a Hopper 4?

For me I can't think of many things the Hopper 3 is missing. If I made a Hopper 4 it would be an Android Native receiver, and would support Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos and maybe add a red recording light to it.. (lol) what else is missing?
The ability to have as many streams that you can record and unlimited cloud DVR. Add 4 ota tuners and INCLUDE OTA GUIDE information like AIR TV does for free. Include the plus box in the receiver so you would have one interface to the TV for Everything. All your apps would be accessible through the unit. No more changing inputs to get to what you want to see. The Dolby Vision and Atmos Sound would be great as well.

I wish for the next super deluxe 2.1 Hopper 4 have a built in Plus, red recording lite, & built in OTA with four tuners. I would also like for the skip fwd/rew feature to have an "end" selection. Many a time I wanted to start a recording at the end and then skip backwards so I could just watch the ending again. PITA to start the recording over just to reach the end.

I thought you needed a Joey for 4K? More content is needed for sure.

Even if the Hopper 3 could not do 4K (I believe it does), the content producers have spoken, 4K is for the streaming services.

Not just the exclusive streaming shows, but the exact same content shown on Broadcast/Cable Channels is available in 4K on streaming services, but only in 720P/1080i on Dish (and DirecTV, Charter, Comcast, etc).

Two examples are CBS shows ( in 4K next day on Paramount+), FX (4K on Hulu/Disney+ same day/next day).

The current show, Alien Earth is in 720P on Cable/Satellite, but 4K Dolby Vision on Hulu/D+.

Gee, I wonder how they will handle "4K" with DRM'd portions of ATSC 3, should it come to pa$$. There mu$t be $ome factor driving that deci$ion making.

Don't think that would be good due to the number of read writes the Hopper does all day long. And don't think the user would see any real difference in speed. I think they made the Hopper 3 too good.

I know quite a number of people who cut the cord then came back to Dish just because of the Hopper 3.
a hopper that brings us adult beverages and snacks 🤔

It's missing the integration of ATV without a separate device, the Plus, like the Joey 4's have.
It also opens up the door to end of Life for the Hopper Slings and Joey 2's

...which the Hopper 4 could also do

I can't think of anything Dish could add to a Hopper 4 that would entice me to return to paying about double what I'm paying for streaming.

for us it's having all of our channels in one place and not having to fumble around with multiple apps to find our channels... how much will the package go up once the deals are gone. i am sure that dish will give more deals once the two years is up if you threaten to cancel since there losing subs left and right...

Everyone I talk to is amazed that I am getting voice, text, and data for $15.09 per month. The coverage is great. We went to Branson Missouri for vacation last week and I had cell service for the entire drive from Ohio to Missouri. Boost coverage appears to be better than T-Mobile which was my previous provider. Several of my friends are considering switching to Boost. Of course they would pay $25 per month since they are not dish customers. One of the benefits of being a Dish customer is saving $10 per month on my phone bill. Plus the Hopper 3 is fantastic.

Are you on native Dish Wireless or AT&T? The credit may go to AT&T and if not, now, then soon as the Boost Mobile network is history. It is going, going and soon will be nothing but a footnote.

It seems like the shut down is already beginning.

Boost = AT&T. If you are in an area with good AT&T coverage then Boost will be fine. But there is no reason for anyone to be jealous or amazed by Boost's pricing, when if you want to go cheap, there are better plans out there from other MVNOs.

So far in my 5 days with Boost I have been on AT&T 100% of the time, to my knowledge. As a new customer, the pSIM they sent me, that I can't use is the black AT&T SIM. In all likelihood I will be candling my Boost subscription next week. No reason to keep it when it gives me nothing unique.

Does this make sense to anyone?
Makes perfect sense to me.

For well of a decade Dish has been playing the cellular game with little to nothing to show for it up until the past few years. Now two real companies will be taking full advantage of what Charlie and co. could not do.

Dish Wireless was a failure, waste of time and resources and the spectrum will be put to much better use now that Dish Wireless and gone and is being decommissioned. Exactly 0 subscribers had access to Dish's DoD spectrum, in the next year or two well over 100 million people will have access to it, thanks to AT&T.
