EchoStar Announces Spectrum Sale and Commercial Agreement with SpaceX

And let's not forget that Echostar has more going for it than just Dish.

Again, all of those services are losing customers also, Boost, about 1.8M since Dish/Echostar took over.

Sling almost 700,000 since 2021.

Hughes over 600,000 since 2021, getting destroyed by Star Link.

amazons launching there internet service. they will offer gig speeds. so ELONS going to have to do someting to compete. i mean ET has been toughting gig speeds since the launch of starlink.
huges and viasat are or will be pretty much dead i think thanks to new tech like amazons internet service and starlink!!!
it will be one hell of a battle to see who wins!!!

First the comment was waiting for Direct to go belly up and buy for pennies on the dollar. Why would any company buy a dying company while they are dieing faster? I see it as a lose lose, as it appears to be completely outdated service? What can Dish do different? Just because you have money, what can be different? They both have a streaming service, which is more profitable?
i'll agree i wouldn't waste the money to buy a dying company. more and more are flocking to on demand services like netflix!! what can dish do different nothing i can think of sat is dying tech;. tv won't be the same like it is today the locals are loosing viewers less advertising money for them cable networks shutting down

I think the loses Bruce shows is that Dish will crash before Direct? The quarterly losses are staggeringly high.
i think it might be a tie. seems to be a close race of seeing who's tanking faster than the titanic without the lights on!!! direct didn't do nothing to retain us. i think they know the end is coming!!! and who knows what charlies going to do with his sat that's on order.. if i was charlie i would have never built a cell network!!! maybe get rid of huges and invent something to that fact of starlink and amazons sat internets to compete. it would be cheaper just to use att as a roaming partner!!!

So with $24 billion after all debt repayment, then Charlie could buy out right Directv and end up owning both satellite companies. IF he intends to stay in the video business. I heard on Cord Cutter news site that Echostar will announce it's future plans this week. So we might hear some news by weeks end?
it would make sense for dish to buy direct. in away since he's got another sat on order and dtv does not. get rid of sling and use the dtv stream or make something new out of the both of em.. few people will want the RSN'S how will charlie handle that one 🤔 . mayber offer em alacarte if they can decide on contract terms to only pay the networks by how many are subbed to em and not make everyone pay if they don't want em

I'm not sure the RSNs will be offered at a reasonable price. They may decide exclusivity elsewhere is worth more.

And maybe they see some value in sticking a shive in what they see as a corpse.
We were paying 17.99 a month for the rsns that varies by state. I see directv gor more insane with there pricing. Are they freaking kidding me 10.00 a month per tv and no more first box included in pricing. We pay that for the hopper 3 and Joey the dvr fee is 10.00 for the entire system not 15.00. I could care less about the rsns. I'm sick and tired of hearing multi millionaire crybabies complaining there broke and screaming for more money

The biggest issue with the companies merging is getting all subs to a single platform which can't be done without changing equipment for all existing subs of one service or the other. Not only will this cost a fortune, it's going to result in a lot of churn. Most sat subs probably have the service out of habit and don't want any change or they'll bail.

i can't even imagine how many would flock elsewhere if direct bought dish and they told people they could not have there hopper 3 any longer :biggrin :wtfthat would be a disaster in itself!!! then you'll have the sports nuts that want there sports. either wat it will be an interesting merger...

Can someone tell me why anyone would stay with AT&T for their cell provider when Boost is using the AT&T network but only charging $15.09 per month. The cost for AT&T is $40-50 per month. I love Boost. It helps justify my expensive Dish network.

In my case I have had DIRECTV for 31 years and if DISH would buy DIRECTV and want to force me to move to DISH I would cancel because when I leave DIRECTV I am done with satellite with the dish on the roof and cables around and under my house. I only still have it because my wife loves it but if my $40 discount isn't renewed when it expires next month she will have to find something else to love. Or someone else to love! 😁

AT&T postpaid customer get network priority, so if you're connected to a congested tower you'll have pretty much no data on Boost even though you have good signal.
