EchoStar Announces Spectrum Sale and Commercial Agreement with SpaceX

There will always be people that will never leave no matter what. The question is will it be enough to be profitable? These companies are not in the business to break even.
the more that leave the higher it goes up!!! then you have the ones that think it might be a niche thing. agree to disagree on that. at what cost are they willing to pay for t.v. 🤔?? will they be willing to re mortgage the house every month and give up there right arm and left leg and there both testicles every month just to watch the weirdo window 🤔 . doubt it!!!

I can see the DISH commercial now.....

I gave my left nut to watch DISH ! And you will too, if you subscribe to DISH. :biggrin

So with $24 billion after all debt repayment, then Charlie could buy out right Directv and end up owning both satellite companies. IF he intends to stay in the video business. I heard on Cord Cutter news site that Echostar will announce it's future plans this week. So we might hear some news by weeks end?
As a minimum, Dish could buy the Directv's DBS transponders at 119W and/or 110W. I am not sure if Directv is using these transponders.

They are hoarding the frequencies. The satellite is in an inclined orbit, and FCC refused to renew a normal long term license. If I remember correctly, FCC gave them a few year (short term} renewal so either they need to start productive use or sell the slot in the next couple of years.

Is this for the three DirecTV transponders at 119W or the 10 or 11 DirecTV transponders at 110W?

On a somewhat related note, I moved 3 phones to Boost today.
I've been on Consumer Cellular for about 11 years after leaving AT&T. That's been a decent deal, but with my wife and daughter using more data recently, I've been paying about $115/mo for 3 phones. Switching to Boost will cost me $45.42 a month for unlimited talk text and data. Speeds can slow after 30gb per line, but that's about what we use in total for all 3 lines.

I was activated to use the AT&T network, which is what I have been using all along, so no difference in the service. Since Boost is now basically an MVNO, as AT&T starts rolling out the new spectrum, it is likely that Boost users will also benefit from that at some point.

They sent an install tech to my home to activate 2 of the phones. My wife was out so I did hers via the app tonight. All in all pretty easy, although Consumer Cellular takes about 30 minutes to port the line out. All in all, paying less than 1/2 as a Dish subscriber, and it would still be less ~$75/mo if I ever left Dish.

Just cancelled my Boost subscription. Was going to wait, but I have only connected to AT&T and see no point in paying $50/month for network diversity when I'm already paying $45 for high priority access to AT&Ts network with real unlimited data.

The retention rep saw how much trouble I had with activation and offered half off my next bill, I said no way.

I generally don't have to contact customer support for anything, and in the rare event I do I am usually satisfied as I am more easy going and forgiving then most, but outside of canceling the service, dealing with Boost Customer service has been nothing short of a royal pain and complete nightmare. Worst customer service I have ever experience hands down, I cannot say enough bad things about their incompetence in getting my account activated.
