An LCD screen produces virtually no magnetic field, the only thing that could cause a problem would be built-in speakers.

And the built in speakers are soooo puny that I wouldn't worry about that either

Thanks, I am not using the internal speakers so I should be ok, using a WD Essential and looking for any easy way to turn it off when not in use

I have my EHD behind the LCD tv and I haven't noticed any problems. I think you should be fine.

It wouldn't matter if the speakers were on or off...it's the magnets in them that could be the potential issue.
