Employment process

Does this not vary by state? While Federal Labor laws are the minimum, but don't some of the more progressive states like Cali, Minn, N.Y. not allow some of this? I know that in Cali there are a TON of seemingly reasonable question you do NOT dare ask in an interview or you are violating CA law, and while some job seekers may not know this, quite a number of job seekers DO know Fed and State labor law better than a lot of employers. In case you are wondering, at some point in the interview the job seeker finds this a place they don't want to work and are free to REPORT the employer for asking the questions, so it kept on file against you, along with a warning, possible fine and all goes into the employer file.

I can also tell you that as far as worker safety and violations of such laws by employers, Federal OSHA has been and is still USELESS. It CalOSHA that takes action, although hampered under former Gov. Arnold, but now free to do their jobs as they should since Arnold left. When CalOSHA was eliminated by then Gov. Pete Wilson, the Fed OSHA was so not in the house that CalOSHA was resurrected by a vote of proposition by the people of CA, and thank the heavens because some of the things some employers have been found to do were very bad.
