I'm looking at getting satellite for an upcoming move, but am still somewhat unclear as to what equipment is required. I've got an unused vip 211k reciever and a 1000.2 dish (with the mounting hardware they used) from my parents' farmhouse - what else would be necessary? The location I'm moving will have a clear view of the sky from pretty much any direction, if that makes a difference.

What you have wil work, providing the receiver is clear and does not have a balance owed on it. Like the ohter poster said, you'll need to have your own account.
