It allegedly will accept DVDs recorded in VR mode right from the recorder but most of the time it doesn't. I had to finalize first to get this stuff to work.

That is a function if your DVD-ROM drive.. since an unfinalized disc does not have a TOC (Table of Contents), many drives do not know what to do with it, and assumes its a blank disc. You may be able to get around this, by installing some UDF reading software, but many current DVD-ROM and DVD-R drives do this in hardware.

I run into the same problem with my digital camera (Its a Sony Mavica CD), but that has a USB port on it, so I can pull images out before finalizing the CD.

Check out this SAT truck...

Thanks for the information. I believe I did install some UDF software and it did help but not eliminate the problem. I have since performed a fresh install of Windows so I don't have it now. It's funny, but after I did the Win XP install it worked fine recognizing the discs with no problem. After some time (not much time either) the old problems came back. But to be honest it is more of an annoyance than anything since I can get the material to the computer after finalizing.

Got a whole bunch here :)
The first 3 are feeds
The 4th is CBC Vancouver when its signed off
5th is from CBC Terrace Kittimat. They roll a scheduled and show times during off the air
6th is CBC Prince George. They have a scroll of the days programs when they are signed off

Most of the old ones were actually on a test card. There is more but my camera couldnt keep up :D
