I have known about this for quite awhile but could not say anything... finally they announced it.

I wanted to say something so many times to those folks who keep posting that Dish is letting its satellite service die when that couldn't be further from the truth.

Yes its for TV, not sure what orbit yet. If I remember correctly the spotbeams are stearable so they can use it in any slot.

Awesome good news. Hope to be with DISH mucho longer. New Hopper 4 would be awesome.

Seeing this news makes me even more inclined to think that they are not going to be renewing their lease for 129 and 129 will be gone in the near future.

I wouldn't be surprised if it's 129W , to replace Dish's presence on 129W from what I've read the end of lifespan of Ciel2 is in 2024. I guess that's why Dish moved all or most of the ConUS channels off that Satellite.

Currently I would say slim to none since D* is using them.

Directv isnt using 110 but they do carry locals from 12-13 markets on 119 in SD. I guess they need to keep those going for the 8 people in each market who refuse to upgrade to HD

I think you mean Directv. Carrier beam active on 110 with no programming.

With contract just announced, probably something like 3+ years

I can only report what I was told in the past by people from the company.

When is the last time any of those guys sat with anyone from Dish? Any of their engineers or even the CEO.? When has anyone from the satellite companies posted there? When is the last time they helped test or reported on a new product?

They are a bunch of arm chair quarter backs who have any idea of what they are talking about and unfortunately they give people bad advice for their problems. There is a reason hardly anyone goes to that site anymore.

While things have been quiet in The satellite world I think very very soon you will see the world of satellite getting a lot more busier here at SatelliteGuys it the world of satellite. And it will show everyone again why are “Americas Satellite Information Source!”
