Maybe they are going to own part of ESPN if this deal goes thruWhy would the league want to divest of its TV, if it now owns that itself and presumably it's profitable?
It would further make espn a premium channel and likely reduce its subscribership
Never happen ? hard to see that.If this goes thru, lets hope the 2 keep to their own ideas.
Yes, but thats like seeing your 2nd Cousin.Never happen ? hard to see that.
It is wild & crazy that the NFL own part of Disney.

they did for collage sports and they folded them. This deal was agreed to this week, pending regulatory approval.
One interesting thing I've seen a couple outlets reporting on is Iger said it includes the RedZone branding, so they could potentially launch RedZone channels for other sports.
what system will the be the 1st to pull ESPN out the basic plans and make it an ADD ON like HBO?Why would the league want to divest of its TV, if it now owns that itself and presumably it's profitable?

If that was at all possible..it would have happened years agowhat system will the be the 1st to pull ESPN out the basic plans and make it an ADD ON like HBO?
well the NEW DTC ESPN may be the breaking point. If that was at all possible..it would have happened years ago
Would hope so...but Disney fights dirtywell the NEW DTC ESPN may be the breaking point.
I think Dish would be the first. If their subs want ESPN, they can go to ESPN directly. Dish wouldn't want to play that hard on it, but Disney is making this a thing. They are a large part of the reason why tv is expensive and then demand higher rates from sat/cable, when they are trying to grab the people that dropped sat/cable because of how expensive it was. Disney will have lost its leverage with a streaming service.well the NEW DTC ESPN may be the breaking point.
Yeah - the streaming service does lose leverage. I know that contracts prohibit it, but I wish that if there is a direct to consumer option, that it should be an add-on for some packages. Maybe your highest level packages contain it all, but there has to be a lower priced entry package. As I mentioned in another thread, with the Flex Pack at $68 right now as the lowest level entry point, and then the lowest standard package at $98, you are losing subscribers as the cost is too high.I think Dish would be the first. No they dont, they have precedence in their side! If the FCC dont care, who else will? Its game on,Would hope so...but Disney fights dirty
