Experience upgrading from HDAbsolute to Silver

So, to get FoxNewsHD, I called to upgrade from Absolute to Silver. I have a 622 and a 301. The rep said they couldn't upgrade me to Silver unless I also upgraded the 301 to a 211k, for $75. I questioned that, but he insisted. So I did the upgrade and for some reason they are sending out a tech to install the new 211k.

So was that the right move, upgrading the 301 to to the 211k for $75? Or was he misinformed?

The TurboHD packages are MPEG4-only, so yes, the rep is correct. Your 301 can't process MPEG4 video.

If you can install the new receiver yourself instead of the installer then Dish can knock the price down to $25.
