Explorer 8300HD and picture

My brother-in-law has a widescreen Magnavox HDTV and when the picture is set to Normal it looks likes its widescreen. It has the bars at the top and bottom instead of the sides. When you hit HD Zoom it fills the screen up and down instead of the normal side to side. Anyone know how to make it the normal way with the bars on the side? Also the picture is hinda blurry. Thanks

Well if your box runs the "Passport" software you should be able to goto the settings of the software (probley hit settings on remote/then more settings) and goto Aspect Ratio: choose with 16.9 or 4.3 format depending on how well your TV dealis with it also make suure your useing the Comp input of your tv and it allows 108i and 16.9, Also another thing to do is same place you find "aspect ratio" should be a spot for "output formats" try turning on both 108i and 480i some TVS dont like watching analog useing a 1080i output so haveing the option of both might help it.
