I am going to add an external drive. Directv told me that the max size was 1T, but I don't believe them. Two questions:

1) What is the max size?
2) Which brand/model is best?

Thanks

I have used up to a 1.5tb hard drive on my HR20-700, also used a 750.

I tend to use Seagate HD's as I've had good luck with them.
Currently using a FreeAgent 1.5TB on my HR24 now, took the EHD off the HR20 as it's in my bedroom and not needed in there.

The largest HDD is 2TB, the HRs will not support a larger HDD.

I've got WD Green Caviar 2TB HDDs on/in ten HRs. They all work well, but the EVDS and EURS are both built specifically for DVR use. If you choose to believe WD. The WD Black Caviar drives will also work on the HRs, but are more expensive.

For an external device, I'd recommend the Thermaltake docking stations. Here's a link.

The WD drives seem to work with every HR as do the TT docking stations.
