External Hard Drive on my 722: Doesn't use an external power supply.

My External Hard drive on my 722 is powered by USB. I saw on the dish website, that it has to have an external power supply.

Seemed the receiver picked it up, and is using it just fine, so what's the big deal if it's USB powered?

Good luck. It will probably freeze on you. You will have to reboot the receiver and then get a powered drive.

Simple mistake. I'll just go back to the store I bought it from, return it, buy another one, and plug it back in.

Some of the new 2.5" drives only draw 0.25amp during R/W... Perhaps you have one of those?

It has room for a full size HDD inside of it. So I doubt very seriously that it is a 2.5 inside of it. It most like has 3.5 inside.
