External Hard Drive on my 722: Doesn't use an external power supply.

My External Hard drive on my 722 is powered by USB. I saw on the dish website, that it has to have an external power supply.

Seemed the receiver picked it up, and is using it just fine, so what's the big deal if it's USB powered?
 
Good luck. It will probably freeze on you. You will have to reboot the receiver and then get a powered drive.
 
You are the second person around here today that seems to want to ignore the AC powered requirement. Why is that?
 
Some of the new 2.5" drives only draw 0.25amp during R/W... Perhaps you have one of those?
 
I think that's what I had, as it was pretty small. I returned it, and bought a Seagate GoFlex 1TB model instead.
