Not all external enclosures work with the DVRs.

Wow, why so big ?
You know IF you ever have trouble with the recvr and it has to be replaced, you lose ALL your recordings when it gets plugged back into the next recvr, right ?
A new recvr will reformat the EHD so it will recognize it .
Chances are the unit is not recognized by the D* box anyways, from the sounds of it.
