Wow! I was just thinking of Fess Parker the other day after Peter Graves passed-away...led me to think of his brother James Arness (Gunsmoke fame)...which led me to think of the character Festus...which led me to think of Fess Parker (aka Davy Crockett). Although Davy Crocket and Daniel Boone were a few years before my time, I certainly watched all the reruns and was given my brothers old hand-me-downs (rifle, records, coonskin cap, etc.)

RIP!!!

I remember watching some of the Davy Crockett in reruns. But I watched all the Daniel Boone first runs.

You're right! While Davy Crockett was around in the 50s, Daniel Boone aired from '64 to '70, when I was lad, so I saw them all first run too. Anyway, I don't think there is kid alive from our generation who isn't familiar with these two songs:

Davy Crocket
Born on a mountain top in Tennessee,
Greenest state in the land of the free.
Raised in the woods so's he knew every tree,
Killed him a bear when he was only three.

Davy, Davy Crockett King of the Wild Frontier.

Daniel Boone
Daniel Boone was a man. Yes a big man.
With an eye like an eagle and as tall as a mountain was he.
Daniel Boone was a man. Yes a big man.
He was brave, he was fearless and as tough as a mighty oak tree.

RIP Fess, you were my hero back in 55. I even had a coonskin hat.
