AMSTERDAM, Dec 5 (Reuters) - The world football organisation FIFA said on Friday the 2006 World Cup finals would be broadcast entirely in the widescreen format, 15 years after the first television with a letterbox display was introduced.
World Cup sponsor Philips Electronics (Amsterdam:pHG.AS - News; NYSE:pHG - News) of the Netherlands, Europe's biggest consumer electronics maker, and broadcast organisation Infront Sports & Media signed the widescreen deal with FIFA.
