But once it's determined that 60 percent of a municipality is being served by at least two cable providers, that municipality would see a cable tax charged to consumers double, from 2 percent of the basic cable rate to 4 percent.

Of the 4 percent, 3.5 percent will go back to municipalities for property tax relief and the other half percent will go toward senior services, Carballo said

Actually Verizon is only in a very small portion of Texas(former gte area's).. NJ would be the first TRUE statewide franchise (95%of total customer's))
