I recently bought a Samsung HL-T6189S DLP HDTV. I use a Wavefrontier Toroidal T90 dish and two single LNBF dishes to pick up signals from 4 DishNet satellites - 110W, 119W, 129W, and 148W as well as signals from StarChoice satellites 107.3W,111.1W and DirecTV 101W. I use legacy switches SW64 and SW21 to connect to a DishNet 811 receiver. When I do the Check Switch the output shows the following:

Installed Switch Model: SW21 4-SAT
Switch Inputs
Input:-----------1-------1-----1A-2---1B-2---2A-2----2B-2----3A-2----3B-2
Satellite:--------129----129----119----119----110-----110-----148-----148
Polarity:---------Odd----Even--Odd----Even---Odd----Even----Odd-----Even

Status: Satellite reception verified

I also verified transponder signals on all 4 satellites. Does the above mean I'm technically okay? Yet when I click on the guide it doesn't list any 129W channels. Is this have something to do with the fact that the 811 receiver is not MPEG4 compatible? Shouldn't it at least list the channels? I have not as yet signed up for the HDTV package but I do get HDTV reception on HBO channels 9440(148W), 9456(110W) and Showtime channels 9430(148W), 9460(110W) since I do subscribe to HBO and Showtime. What do I now have to do to get additional HDTV channels, in particular the HDTV channels on 129W including my local Los Angeles network channels?

811

I was using an 811 and the DN CSR told me that the only way to get more HD was to upgrade to a 622 and sub to the HD package. I did that and have no regrets. You won't see locals in the guide other than what you sub to.

Regards, Eric
