FOX ONE streaming service

Fox One streaming service to launch ahead of NFL season on Aug. 21, at $19.99 per month

The new streaming service will cost $19.99 per month, and pay TV subscribers will receive access for free, said CEO Lachlan Murdoch during the company's earnings call.

Fox One will host the entirety of the Fox TV portfolio — namely, live sports such as NFL and MLB that appear on its broadcast network, as well as news programming from its Fox News and Fox Business cable TV networks.

It's definitely overpriced but seems to be the only way to get FOX live for sports. For sports fans, it may be the cheaper option to add both this and ESPN vs cable or full streaming service.

I liked NBC's model. You wanted one thing, you could pay a la carte for it. Indycar... $50 a year, get the races, qualifying, practice. Bam! Then it went to Peacock... even cheaper as I watch EPL already!

I want to watch Indycar qualifying and practice on FS1 (and only that)... $20 a month?! That is already more than the $15 extra I pay on Dish and that gives me ESPN and ESPN2 as well! And there is little to no value to me with the remainder on the service. Why can't I just pay for Indycar?!

This model works for me with Liberty's F1 TV. I'll pay the $80/year for race coverage plus past years' races. And some of their special events programming is excellent. IRL needs to come out with a similar package. I suppose it depends on who owns the various races? ABC? NBC? Fox?

So, if ALL of the Fox Sports was 4K HDR on all the streaming platforms, it might be attractive, especially if it includes the B1G Ten coverage in all its various primary and secondary games coverage. If I add Fox Sports to my Dish Flex, it's like $15/month anyway. Not that big of a delta to get better PQ and larger selection. If they have B1G Ten…

Only if it was in real 4K, that up converted stuff looks terrible.

This is kind of what I'm considering.

I mainly just watch MLB and college basketball. And reruns of filler shows when I just want something on in the background.

MLB is mostly solved with MLB.tv. But there are the occasional games on ESPN and FOX (getting my local FOX station OTA is sketchy at best).

Paying $90/mo for Hulu + Live TV just to watch the occasional games on ESPN and FOX can be replaced with the $30/mo ESPN OTT service and this $20/mo FOX One OTT service, for $50/mo. Honestly I could probably just use MLB.tv and skip those occasional games on ESPN and FOX. Maybe subscribe to the FOX One service during the playoffs.

What's more... after baseball season, I don't really need FOX, so I can cut it and just pay for the $30/mo ESPN OTT service.

My one sticking point is going to be the NCAA Tournament in March. If they would offer a March Madness package that gives me CBS + Turner Sports for March/April that would solve that issue. I suppose I could subscribe to Hulu + Live TV for a month or two.

I'm not saying that this is what I'll do. But there is a path to where this could become feasible.
